ARTIST STATEMENT
Watercolor is my chosen medium because it offers me the ability to express translucent light and sparkling shadows like nothing else I have tried. Watercolor is like magic for creating the feeling of light!

Visit  Watercolor Mania  my personal blog for updates on what I am doing in everyday life as well as art. There you will also find several step by step paintings. I am hoping somehow it can become a forum to answer your questions and set up a dialog with other artists who love watercolor!
These are a few of my newest paintings.
My book entitled "A Celebration of Light" is now available. It can be purchased through any bookstore or Amazon. It is also available from North Light Book Club. I was blessed to be able add a page from 10 of my artist friends in the book. Paul Jackson, Janie Gildow, Arleta Pech, Sueellen Ross, James Toogood, Cindy Agan, Peggi Batcheck, Laurin McCracken, Marilyn Wear and Susan Harrison-Tustain!
"Draped Grapes"  The photo for this was taken about 4 years ago and I was hesitant to paint it for so long because I was intimidated by all that lace! I think I have had my fill of lace for awhile but suspect it will be something I will tackle again and again because I love the texture and design qualities it can give to a painting. This is available as a giclee print.
19" x 28"
"Papa's Pepper"  is a red pepper on a candleabra of prisms on top of Cindy Agan's watercolor book. She is a dear friend of mine and I now teach workshops with her. I am always looking for something unusual that a judge might take a second look at for juring into national shows. I hope this one does well for me!
"A Passion For Peonies" was  purchased while in the drawing stage. It was hopefullygoing to become a competiton piece but the purchase won out! I really love this one and think it is one of my best peony paintings to date. These peonies were in the garden of my friend Susan Hoosier who has since moved to Washington. I will greatly miss her peonies and her!
"Angels Keep Watch" is a commission piece documenting a small part of a collection of English Ironstone dishes and 1800's Norwegian furniture and textiles. This was a fun piece to do but always a challenge when it is a particular thing the client wants to document. One must be careful to still be true to yourself and be the artist. Otherwise you might as well take a photo. Hopefully I still kept my personal signature look to this piece.
